Autumn term year 11

• Listen to all universities coming to meet with students at SSHL
• Use www.studera.nu to do research about admission requirements and points
• Start planning for högskoleprovet. You can take högskoleprovet as many times as you wish. You can find all information about högskoleprovet on www.studera.nu

Högskoleprovet is given once every term. At least 30% of the positions at a Swedish university courses are given to students with a högskoleprov result

Spring term year 11

• Listen to all universities coming to meet with students at SSHL

Autumn term year 12

• Go to the biggest Swedish university fair in Älvsjö, SACO University fair.

SACO University fair is always in late November or early December.
You can meet with all universities from Sweden plus some universities from other parts of the world

• If you need to take the TISUS test (Test I Svenska för Utländska Studenter) you should take TISUS this term. Students with Swedish A2 or A1 does not need TISUS

Spring term year 12

• Listen to all Swedish universities coming to SSHL in February /March
• Go to the Swedish university application session held by SYV Ingrid Annet Nordström in mid. March.
• Apply on www.studera.nu no later than 15 April

• Go to UK university fair Stockholm

Spring term grade 11

• Take Centigrade before Easter school break. Ingrid Syv coordinates the Centigrade test
• Start your research when it comes to courses and universities.
• Learn more about UCAS application system and resources by the UCAS session held by SYV – Ingrid Annett Nordström

Summer

• Visit universities on open days in UK
• Start working on your personal statement
• Find out if any of the courses and universities that you are interested in use any additional entrance tests. There is a list on the UCAS website with all entrance tests and for what course you need to take a certain test.

Autumn term grade 12

• Ask your mentor to be your referee. SSHL policy is that a teacher has 1 month to produce a reference.
• Enroll to any additional entrance tests
• Please keep your referee updated on what you apply to and your personal statement.
• 1 September UCAS application opens for applicants 2011 entry
• Learn more about UCAS application on the session held by Ingrid Syv in early September
• 15 October deadline for Oxford, Cambridge, Vet, Med and Dentistry.
• Ingrid Syv advices applicants to apply no later than 10 October for courses with 15 October deadline
• 15 January deadline for all other university courses
• Ingrid Syv advices applicants for 15 January deadline to apply no later than early November
• Applications sent in after 15 th January might be considered by the university .

Spring Term year 12

• Wait for offers. Offers will be sent out via UCAS no later than March.

University Timetable USA

Autumn term grade 11

• Listen to all USA universities that come to SSHL to meet with SSHL students.
• Take PSAT at SSHL in October

Spring term grade 11

• Start your university research. Use the www.collegeboard.com for a university plan
• Start preparing for SAT.
• Use the www.collegeboard.com website to get the SAT questions for the day. Borrow SAT practice tests from the SSHL library or print practice tests from www.collegebaord.com
• Go to the Fulbright commission session held at SSHL in May

Summer

• Visit universities in USA and continue your university research
• Find out the application deadline and other requirements for each university you are interested in.
• Find out about tests (SAT, SAT subject tests, TOEFL) that you need to take and by which deadline
• Find out what kind of essay your universities require

Be aware of that every university in USA has its own timetable.

Autumn term grade 12

• Ask your mentor to be your referee. Some universities in USA also ask for a second referee. Your mentor has one month to write a reference or fill out the teacher recommendation form, after your request
• Contact Ingrid Syv for school report and transcripts that needs to be sent in to Universities. Ingrid needs one month to help you with school report and transcripts
